Oil Tanker Odessa Successfully Completes Voyage from Hormuz Strait to South Korea
The Maltese-flagged tanker Odessa has arrived at the port city of Sosan in South Korea, completing its voyage that began in the Hormuz Strait in mid-April, according to HD Hyundai Oilbank. The cargo consists of one million barrels of oil intended for processing at one of the country's largest refineries, highlighting the dependence of East Asian economies on unstable shipping routes in the Persian Gulf.
The delivery is estimated to account for 35-50% of South Korea's daily oil consumption, demonstrating the strategic importance of each successful passage through this region. HD Hyundai Oilbank confirms that the company's facilities can process up to 690,000 barrels of oil per day, converting raw materials into diesel fuel, gasoline, and naphtha.
The Seoul authorities are currently imposing strict price controls to protect the industrial sector from the impacts of the ongoing war with Iran.

US President Donald Trump stated that a framework agreement with Tehran remains in place despite an incident in the Hormuz Strait where three American destroyers were targeted by missiles and small boats. Although the ships avoided damage, Washington responded with strikes on Iran's military infrastructure, targeting primarily launch sites and command posts.
Trump referred to Iranian authorities as "madmen" and warned that the US response would be much harsher if a formal agreement is not reached immediately. Tehran, on the other hand, characterized the exchange of fire as a justified "exchange of fire" in response to alleged US aggression against vessels in the area, claiming that significant damage was inflicted on American equipment.
The clashes occurred amid reports that Iranian officials are considering the US-led proposal for de-escalation and ensuring security in the Hormuz Strait.
