Creators of 'Harry Potter' Start Chip Tracking Props Due to Thefts

On the set of the 'Harry Potter' series, prop control has been tightened, reports The Sun. This decision was made following a series of thefts.

According to the publication, items made for the series have begun to be equipped with special chips to track their locations. Not only wands and brooms are under surveillance, but also prop pumpkins.

Production leaders have warned actors and staff that 'Harry Potter' props will now be checked daily, and their movements will be recorded.

Sources indicate that suspicions of theft could fall on dozens of background actors, but no one knows who might be responsible for the missing props. Producers plan to monitor eBay and other online platforms for stolen items.

Props have also been actively stolen from the 'Harry Potter' film sets. Some items later appeared for sale: for example, the Marauder's Map from 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' was sold at auction for nearly $300,000.

The premiere of the first season of 'Harry Potter' is scheduled for December 25, 2026.
