Tajikistan Claims Gold on Day One of Judo Grand Slam in Dushanbe
The world judo tour has returned to Tajikistan, with the arena once again becoming the center of attention, filled with fans from the very start of the day.
In the final of the women's 48 kg category, Mongolia's Anudari Jamsran faced off against Amber Gershes from the Netherlands, with the match decided by a single yuko in favor of the Mongolian athlete.
The awards were presented by Mohammed Meridja, the Director of Education and Coaching at the International Judo Federation.
In the men's 60 kg final, Ayub Bliev confidently defeated Artem Lesyuk, securing a gold medal with two waza-ari that combined into an ippon.
For the 28-year-old judoka, this marks his fourth gold at Grand Slam tournaments.
The medal was awarded by Dilbar Rahim Odilzoda, Deputy Mayor of Dushanbe.
In the women's 52 kg category, world champion 2024 Odette Juffrida navigated a tactical final to claim her sixth Grand Slam gold.
The award was presented by Tina Trstenjak, Director of the Judging Commission at the International Judo Federation.
