According to CISA, TraderTraitor is a state-sponsored hacking group from North Korea that has been linked to cryptocurrency thefts since at least 2020. It is associated with the Lazarus group, known for phishing campaigns and malware.
Following the attack, Binance suspended deposits and withdrawals while conducting security checks and cooperating with law enforcement. The exchange has already covered about 90% of the stolen amount, and withdrawals are being resumed gradually.
Richard Teng, Binance's co-CEO, stated that the company intends to compensate all stolen funds and assured users that their assets are safe.
