Ferragosto 2026: Italy Expects 17.5 Million Tourists and €9 Billion in Spending
From August 1 to 23, Italy anticipates 17.4 million tourists, including 8.4 million Italians and 9 million foreigners, according to CNA Turismo e Commercio.
The average stay will be 4.5 nights, with spending exceeding €9 billion. The overall economic impact could reach €15 billion, considering the influence on the hospitality sector and services.
More than 224 million overnight stays are expected from July to September, with spending around €27 billion. However, less than 40% of vacationers will choose August for their holidays, preferring June, July, or September instead.

According to an EMG survey, 12.3 million Italians have already traveled in June and July, while another 8.2 million plan trips in September. 6.2 million will travel to other European countries, favoring Spain, Greece, and France.
Travelers will spend an average of €939 per person on transportation and accommodation. More than half prefer to travel by car.
According to CNA Turismo e Commercio, seaside resorts remain the most popular, followed by historical cities and mountainous areas. Rome and the Lazio coast continue to attract tourists.
According to Bank of Italy data, tourist spending in 2025 reached nearly €57 billion, a 4.8% increase from 2024. In the first half of 2026, arrivals increased by 4.43%.
