Tragedy in Peru: Plane Crashes with Tourists Over Nazca Geoglyphs
A small plane with tourists crashed in Peru. All 13 people on board died.
The crashed aircraft was a Cessna Caravan C-208 from the Peruvian airline Aerodiana.
The plane took off on Saturday around 12:10 PM local time from Pisco Airport for a sightseeing flight over the Nazca geoglyphs. About 50 minutes later, the crew reported an emergency situation, and shortly after that, communication was lost.

There were 11 tourists and two pilots on board. Among the deceased were two German citizens, two Spaniards, and seven Italians.
“Given the severity of the crash, there can be no survivors. So far, we have found four bodies,” said police major Jorge Andrade.
Sightseeing flights over the Nazca geoglyphs were temporarily suspended due to wind speeds exceeding 40 kilometers per hour.
The Nazca lines in southern Peru are gigantic geoglyphs carved into the desert ground about 2000 years ago. They depict animals, plants, and geometric shapes and are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The best way to see these ancient images is from the air, making small plane tours popular.
