Germany Leads CERN Funding Again in 2026
Germany has become the largest financial donor to the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), contributing 311.6 million Swiss francs to the budget for 2026. It surpasses the funding levels of the UK and France.
The total budget of CERN member states for 2026 is approximately 1.53 billion Swiss francs. The top five contributors — Germany, the UK, France, Italy, and Spain — account for about 65% of all contributions. These funds are used for the operation of accelerator facilities and the implementation of international research programs.
