“Electric scooters will become a separate category of vehicles with specific rules, including a ban on use while intoxicated and carrying passengers,” the Prime Minister stated.
Transport law expert Miklós Herpi supports the new measures but believes they should also apply to other types of scooters. He emphasized that many were unaware of the ban on riding while drunk, leading to an increase in injuries among children.
This summer, over 340,000 people filled out a road safety questionnaire, and professional organizations were involved in drafting the proposal. The Prime Minister promised to present the decree for public discussion before final approval.
