Effective Ways to Remove Grease and Tar from Sportswear
Athletes often encounter stains from petroleum products that are difficult to remove with regular detergent. A special approach is needed for careful cleaning.

Gear made from membrane, spandex, and polyester requires gentle care to avoid damaging the fibers. Always check the label before treatment.
Place a napkin under the stain. If using a solvent, wear gloves and ensure proper ventilation.
For membrane fabrics, it's best to go to a dry cleaner.

Removing Grease
To remove bicycle chain grease, use vegetable oil. Apply it to the stain and let it sit for 15–20 minutes, then scrub gently with a soft brush and a dishwashing liquid.

For dense fabrics, white spirit and purified gasoline are suitable. Moisten a cotton pad and gently blot the stain.
Vegetable oil is also effective for removing trainer grease, but you may need to wait 20–30 minutes.
Removing Tar
Tar can get on clothing during road repairs. If the stain is old, place the clothing in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 30–40 minutes. Then carefully scrape it off.

For any residue, treat it with white spirit, letting it sit for 2–3 minutes, then blot with a cotton pad.
Always test any solution on an inconspicuous area of the fabric. Solvents should not be left on the fabric for more than 15 minutes. After treatment, wash the item with fabric conditioner.
